a day of sight seeing

I took a stroll at Chinatown today and it has evolved from a wet-market shopping + food to a listed tourists' favourite location. Obviously, the newly built Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Museum is one cultural icon in Chinatown that one must not miss. More than 50 million of cash was needed for the construction of this temple. Its interior decor is beautifully and elaborately decorated. When i made my way in, i was stopped by the guide cos my attire was inappropriate. No short skirts or anything revealing and becos of my skirt, i was given a sarong to wrap round. lolz.

Level 1 is divided into 2 halls for public praying, one infront and the other behind. Each hall sits a different buddha and the altar is decorated with generous offerings. Ya, everything in there is elaborate looking even right to the walls and ceilings. Unlike most temples which smells like a cookhouse, this is fully air-conditioned and incense burning is only available outside.

Flowers and lamps as offerings

The walls of level one halls. My guess there shd be at least 100 buddhas statues.

The ceiling. I saw this on a notice board, you can sponser each tile at 1000k each. O_o''' Gold seems to be the most often used colour in this temple...

Even the lift is not spared! Some levels above have buddha statues and tiles plated in 100% gold. Yeah, real gold. So no photography allowed and security is tight.

I went up to the roof top, where it lies the 10000 Buddhas Pagoda and an orchid garden.

Phals 'mounted' like this will meet an early death from root rot. They are the only orchids i hate to the core... darn hard to please.

A total of 10000 mini buddha statues. If i aint wrong, you gotta pay a fund of $3000 to adopt a buddha. Simply to say, if you want your family name to be in some corner of this temple, you gotta make a small contribution.

i'm BBQ-ed

Went to Marina for steamboat last sat..boy it was super crowded! Is it a common sight to see restaurants fully packed? Steamboat (only) is a great event for frens gathering but i really hate the smoke of bbq. Gosh..i smelled like a bbq chicken that day. >_<''' I really cant imagine the staff who work there...seriously, i was deprived from oxygen e entire nite but it was fun though. lol. On a budget constraint, we were lucky enough to get a place for ard 20 persons at $11 each. I think discount was given for big groups, usual price is $12 per head.
Its time to cook! This scene reminds me of CNY reunion dinners.. typical setting with the steamboat. See the 'oil vapour' around?

The dishes on our table.. there's still more to come. Okay..i'm a 'sua ku', its my first time seeing 'live sea-animals' being chopped and thrown into the soup. Cos the seafood i normally get during steamboat sessions are freeze dead.

Chicken satay. I dint try this cos i dun like satay. lol. But the review from the rest was good. Btw, overall is not bad. We had an enjoyable time, esp the guys from the 2nd table ate non stop for like 2hrs.. piangz.

Last but not least, group photo with the girls. Cheeerss!

Alrites as mentioned in my previous post, i'm busy on my search with oncidium hybrids. I went all the way down to Woon Leng's at Chua Chu Kang (near Qian Hu fish farm). Damn the place is sooooooooooo ulu, dint bring my cam else i wld have snap the surroundings. Its rather 'forested' just like an old kampung lane but u can find cool stuff in there.

I found Onc.Sharry Baby, the one famous for its vanilla milk chocolate scent. Perfect condition!

A common looking yellow oncidium. Bought it cos its mounted on bark and flowers are bigger in size. -___-'' Still i'm more interested in equitants but they hadnt flower yet. And i got another 'unknown' plant, it hasnt flowered.. so gotta wait but my guess its an odm. hybrid. We'll see, lol.

life is good = overspent!

Its the GSS month.. how can i resist not to spend? Well, not all items are on sale but my mentality of watching others shopping away tempt me to do the same. I've been travelling to most parts of sg in search of hybrid orchids, especially oncidium equitants. Yea.. i'm blabbering abt the same topic again. =x

This is wat've got.. Blc Mem. Crispin Rosales. Colour complements very well with its fragrance, a mixture of grapes and berries. Teehee~

This is my favourite corner at home.. simply not enough pots, i cant wait to add more..

I pamper my feet with a new pair silver stardust slip-ons from gripz.. lolz.. no pics here, jus lazy to shoot. And last sat was a fun filled nite, catching up with my old pals aka Pok Stanley and Sharon. Lolz. I am mean..but his name is indeed very interesting. Had a nicey dinner at TCC, hmm, i like some of TCC's desserts and main menu. Partly because of the 'Healthier Choice' dishes.

Chamomile Tea..

Dory with Apricot sauce

Golden Jubilee, its mash potatoes with chicken

After that we head down to Swissotel, City Space for a drink and nite viewing. Its not my first time but once in a blue moon will do fine. I'm not a nite owl btw. haha.

My first cup of Irishcream, bitter yet creamy.. but we ordered mocktails as well jus in case. Tmr will be my next steamboat session at Marina.. broke liao....

Wake up!

There's this saying "The worst solitude is to be destitute of sincere friendship". Perhaps i've been wandering about too often alone..such that i dont even know what is a sincere friendship. Simply, what is friendship. How much i miss those days while i'm hanging out in an all-girls group, from makan, ktvs, entertainment, shopping etc.. everyone has a part in it. There's always somebody there to cheer for your joys and shoulder your sorrows. Eversince i left jc, they have faded from my life, totally lost in contact, which is sad. Actually, i do miss them but i've no idea where they are. There are lots of friends flowing into my life but whom can i build a sincere friendship with? I had a terrible time this week struggling with my emotions and thoughts. Perhaps i think too much and expect alot from others..therefore resulting myself to step back from this world. My apologies to you (you know who you are) who have to tolerate my nonsense during that period. Guess its time for me to wake up, get a life and stop wallowing in self pity.
