~

Dear XXX,

I guess we are standing on different grounds. All along i used to think that you are someone who love others more than yourself..i admire this quality of yours. Unfortunately, you dont seem to be that angelic anymore. It really saddens me. We happened to discuss on our opinions on marriage life. Ho-ho-ho, i'm thinking too far ahead. But not exactly though since i'm approaching mid twenties soon, its time i shd start planning. You are someone with strong traditional values in such a way i dont quite agree with. I'm not condemning people who are traditional. Being traditional with an outdated thinking and depriving your future wife's happiness is absurd! You said you only want your new home to be at most 2km from your parents' place so as to take advantage of discounts from getting a hdb unit. You'll NEVER consider other places in singapore cos they are deemed as 'INCONVIENIENT' districts. Another reason is, it is 'convenient' for you and your wife to have dinner at your parents' place EVERYDAY after work. I know you inside out, weekends are not spared either. And if its convienient for you.. come to think of it logically, have you spare a thought for your wife when she wanna visit her parents (close to other end of sg). If that is the case, then must well just make her to live with your parents so tt you can save up your $$ on buying a new flat?!?! You said you strongly believe in this saying '嫁鸡随鸡,嫁狗随狗'.. hello!! this is not really applicable in today's modern society. I mentioned 'not really' cos, at most only a fraction applies. Women today recieve higher education unlike the olden days..you cant expect your wife to oblige to you all e time. I quote from Yanwei's post - "In this 21st century, women cannot and ought not be restricted and enslaved in so-called traditional gender roles anymore. Perhaps, marriage really works best if we treat it as a union where two parties have more or less equal say." A fraction of e abv saying still stands cos in my opinion men generally still hold impt roles in the family. Well, why am i so dissapointed by your comments is because you wanna fulfill your duty as a filial son and as a result deprive your wife from being a filial daughter. Mind you, your future wife is the only child of the family. How much her parents will miss her if that 'traditional' mindset of yours is stopping her from visiting her parents weekly?!? Because you feel that once a daughter is married off, she is considered as an outsider to her own parents? Goodness! She is not sold to you! Personally i feel that marriage belongs to only two parties and involving too much of one's family intervention will cause a great deal of problems. You want the best of both worlds, your wife and your parents at e same time. I'm sure you know by putting them together results in hell of conflicts? In the end who suffers? Its the husband who will be sandwiched between the wife and his mum. Again, i wld like to comment is that you feel there's no need to spare a thought for your wife..you dont believe in compromising cos you think once she's married to you..she is obliged to watever you do. You may be family oriented but with this kinda outdated mindset ..it is gg to create more misery for her and yourself. Well, i guess there aint many sg gals who can withstand your mentality. Worst to worst, you go get yourself a 'foreign' wife or program a robot.

Happy CNY!

I hardly have time to blog..and when its time to update any post, its usually done during at nites when my mind is half awake. =_=''' So i dun feel like penning down my thoughts.. too tired to think. If i were to leave it to some other days.. my post will be terribly outdated. Anyway here are some happenings during my CNY.. well, the same thing goes on again but this is my 1st yr taking down e scenes on my cammy..=)

Its good to have sth 'red' in e house..my dad is very particular over such things. Here are some typical cny decorations..

my plants are all tied with RED ribbons.

Lotus bamboo..2 baskets of mandarin oranges (more in e fridge!) and RED table runner.

Decorations on my door..haha we are not alone~

my dad bought this pretty orchid..with dark purple blots..guess he got influenced by me. =_='''

its nearly full bloom!

Let's start with renuion dinner. No one is cooking at home, so we head down to Szechuan Court @ Raffles The Plaza. Again, e same place at Prego's so u can roughly estimate our total cost. I chose this place cos all our favourite restaurants were fully booked...bo bianz..cant afford to be choosy else we may have to eat indian rojak.

Soya Sauce Chicken

Its so well marinated tt you can even taste the richness of soya sauce in its meat! So tender that u cant stop eating! Another thing i like is, 60% of this portion is breast meat.. lolz

Homemade beancurd with shredded chicken in spicy sauce

This serving is only meant for one person. Since its homemade beancurd.. it certainly taste truly like a homemade dish. Great!

Braised bai ling mushrooms with seasonal vegetables

Abalones are darn expensive on the menu..this is a subsitute. Have you tried mushrooms tat have the texture of a high grade abalone? Of cos it does taste like mushroom but unlike the usual ones we eat..tough and rubbery. This is e opposite.

Steamed cod fillet with fermented soy bean crumbs

You can compare it with e one i had at Prego's..both equal in its freshness and quality. I love the sauce..it enhances the taste of e codfish..I dont quite like those crumbs onto..taste like peanuts.

Braised Eefu noodle with golden mushroom and dried scallop

Looks so plain and tasteless but you cant imagine how wonderful this is. Aawwwww...i cant describe..it jus taste perfect.

Vegetarian Fried Rice

Very light and its a good choice if you are having side dishes tt are rich in flavour.

Its CNY day 1.. and i gotta wake up freaking early to prep myself to get ready to head down to my grandparents' place.

my granny love decorating e house for cny.. i think all elders behave e same way..

cny goodies i cant resist...

according to tradition...young generation have to kneel infront of e elders when comes to cny greetings. My cousin is e 'victim' here...he looks reluctant =p Well, in our family we aint particular over such things so its understandable tt he feels uneasy..his 1st time mah~

next is my granny's turn.. lolz

After tt, we headed down to the kaikan and i got a mini rice pack as a welcome gift. Seems like its been e same for e past few yrs.. =x

Next i acc my dad to the famous temple at waterloo street..this place is forever crowded esp on CNY. I cant imagine how pple manage to squeeeeeeze in with all tt joss stick ashes falling on ur head. The weather is scorching hot, mind you. Well, when comes to visiting religious places, you wont feel satisfied till u make ur way in. =x

The end of my cny celebn..
okies.. tat's all folks..

what is valentine's day?

Other than being a 'friendship day'..We all know its a special day for couples (generally) to enjoy themselves to the fullest. As for myself, i did the same with the mass..have a nicey dinner and exchange of gifts.. =.=

We had a 'grand' dinner at Prego's located at Raffles The Plaza. It's a bonus if you are a fan of italian cuisine.. being an asian food critic, i cant comment too much. Its rather tasty though.

Cosy dining interior..

We ordered seafood pizza.. i simply love its cheese and fresh prawns.. Once u've tried this, you can proudly say Pizza hut sux.

Awww...the codfish tasted really fresh and juicy.. every bite had this oozing sweet sauce.. as for the soft shell crab behind.. no comments cos i cant take crabs. Well, i jus prefer tempura softshell crab. =x

Seafood pasta.. i love its tomato sauce. Smells and taste nice...=p

Its satisfying so far but not enough for me to crave for it..I wont go back again, too expensive for common folks like me.. another thing is i dun noe how to appreciate italian food.

To me, its nice to celeb vday on its actual day...well your are enjoying the right atmosphere. We celebrated ours in advance on a saturday becos he felt tt its more personalised. hmmmm....~ in exhanged he got his fav mint flavoured choc cubes and my surprise gift was a Leonard Drake's facial voucher...hmmmm..~

Very practical indeed.

Honestly speaking, its not exactly wat i wanted. On special days like valentine's, i hope to recd flowers or maybe some sweet surprises. I am telling a fat lie if i said i dun wan these.. hello~ which gal will reject flowers?? After sometime, i gradually became retard to e meaning of 'romance'... it has been erased from my dictionary with the dreadful 'practical' word. Apparently, to him being practical is more impt tt being romantic. Haiz...i am feeling so romantically-deprived. =.=

updates!

Jus a quick update.. been feeling kinda tired and lazy lately to do anything..same applies to my blog.. *its gathering dust* I wont type much, jus let my piccys do e talking here.

Heeez..my upcoming vday pressies for e choco lovers!

I cant resist pretty Cattleya Orchids. =) so sweet isnt it? Jus in time for cny..

This is its 3rd rebloom. But fewer flowers this time.. e previous with 9 flowers and now only 2!

New shoes i bought last yr at e Shoe Loft. But i've no idea how to match it with my outfit. Can any experts out there gimme some suggestions?

A whole stretch of local delicacies @ katong. Not to be missed!
Check out at Makanguru's.
