Haha. I dint go fishing but i had a real fish 'dip' yesterday evening! Forgot to bring my cammy so no pix available for this post. I'm a die hard fish fan so its a MUST for me to have raw or cooked fish at least once a week. Meowz...=x
I strongly recommend this Japanese Restaurant Wasabi-Tei at Far East Plaza, level 5. Dont underestimate its unappealing exterior..the sushi/sashimi served are extremely fresh! The only place i get to enjoy sushi is at Ichiban's.. Sakae sucks to the pit. Wasabi-Tei was strongly recommended by smurf's fren, he claimed tt its so good that pple are willing to queue for seats (since there are only 15 seats available in the shop). Really tat good meh?? I decided to give it a shot after class with Jas and Clarice..tt was be4 CNY. Hmmm.. I was dissapointed cos i carried sky high hopes tat time. We only ordered set meals and we've missed the REAL stuff manz..
I think there's more than meets the eye..so i visit the shop again. To my 'surprise', at 7pm plus the queue was stretching fast. Heng, after waiting 10mins we got our seats. This time cannot repeat the same mistakes, die die must order the REAL stuff. That is, we had assorted sushi, teriyaki cod fish set and teriyaki chicken. Awwwwww.. guess wat? I give it thumbs up to the assorted sushi! All raw fish meat..comes with tuna, salmon, white fish,6 rolled tuna sushi etc.. The salmon slice i had was so fresh that it melts in my mouth, so textured and it had this tinge of sweetness. The grumpy chef* is generous in his serving. The salmon was sliced thick and you can hardly see rice beneath. Teriyaki chicken is another famous dish... its so nicely grilled that you jus cant stop eating. Well, the choice portion for teriyaki chicken is the thigh region. Well, you know tt i am one ANTI-THIGH meat freak... and i cant imagine tt i will love this dish. Wat a miracle!
As compared to Ichiban's, u get more rice than salmon which is thinly sliced and sometimes it has this fishy taste. =x Not to mention the teriyaki chicken served there...nah~ it cant agree with my taste buds.
Now i know the difference..why pple are so willing to queue.. the price is relatively cheaper compared to Ichiban or sakae.. and you get a bigger/fatter serving! So why not?! *Back to that grumpy chef, he's really grumpy and i dint even get the chance to see his teeth after my 2nd visit. Well, if he really smiles one day, you can get to see pigs flying in the sky. Heard from frens tt he is a true-blue japanese, though he looks more like a kopithiam uncle. My first visit with the gals was a 'memorable' one cos he is the only person who cooks and serves. Pretty stressful having to cope all by himself. Tat explains why he was so temperamental then.. keep slamming utensils and throwing things all over. I think customers who patronised his shop are regulars so more or less they are used to it. We dare not talk openly..instead we whispered to each other..just in case tt grumpy chef starts shouting. lolz.
Good for him yesterday, his wife came down to help during the busy period. I assume tt lady is his wife..(i dont think anyone will like to work for him). As usual, he put on a grouchy face. But i feel tt he wasnt tt temperamental like the other time. The situation there was less 'tense'.lol. haha. But certainly, for the sake of tasting good sashimi, i dun mind coming back for more.
